ERIC RONDEPIERRE
Photography and cinema are the two main focus of the production of Eric Rondepierre, one of the most appreciated French contemporary artists. Rendepierre’s work involves poetry, painting, cinema and photography giving back an enigmatic vision of reality that, even if characterized by a great experimental attitude, is able to recall the fascination from ancient times.
After his graduation at École des Beaux Arts, in the early ’90s Rondepierre begins to explore the socalled “dark corners of the cinema”, consulting archives and film libraries all over the world and examining thousands of films. His works are basically cinematographic frames fixed in images: he selects and isolates frames, enlarges them and turns them into photographs where can still be seen the grane of the original film.
After the official consecration of the great exhibition at MOMA in 1996, recently a great anthological exhibition has been hold in 2015 at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris.
