Opening of the exhibition
“Sandy Skoglund WINTER”
Paci contemporary gallery is pleased to announce the official opening of the great anthological exhibition “Sandy Skoglund WINTER” (2008-2019), focused on the American artist, pioneer of the Staged-Photography, Sandy Skoglund.
During the event that will take place on Friday, May 10th at 6.00 pm, in the new gallery location in Brescia (Borgo Wuhrer), the entire production of the artist will be displayed, starting from the first works from the Seventies. The focus of the exhibition will be her latest and unpublished project: Winter, the result of a ten-year experimentation and here on view for the first time. This new work is the last piece of the series dedicated to the “Four Seasons”. For the first time the original Winter installation, from which the shot has been taken, will be recreated in the gallery spaces, a spectacular preview that once again confirms the extraordinary uniqueness of this artist.
Sandy Skoglund herself will participate at the event and will describe her extraordinary career going through her photographs and sculptures, from the first series produced in the mid-Seventies, but also the famous compositions of the Eighties that made her famous all over the world, and then, the presentation of her latest masterpiece.
Since 2004, Sandy has been working on “The Four Seasons” project, consisting of four artificial landscapes “The Four Seasons”, each one dealing with the psychological influences deriving from each single season.After the Spring, portrayed in the work “Fresh Hybrid”, “Winter” represents its continuation, offering a unique vision of the winter season, populated by sculptures of owls and snowflakes, called “Eyeflakes”. Started in 2008 and crystallized in the camera on December 22nd, 2018, Winter is now ready to be shown to the public.
The Show will be open until September 30th 2019.
