Alex Webb (San Francisco, California, 1952) studied History and Literature at Harvard University and Photography at the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts. He became part of Magnum Photos as an associate in 1976 and as official member in 1979. Since then he has began a long journey through Latin America, Africa, the United States and Europe that has become the subject of several works.
Webb's photographs have appeared in magazines such as GEO, Time, Stern, Life, National Geographic and The New York Times Magazine. Each image contains bright but natural colors in harmonic compositions, clear geometry shadows, and mostly unconscious subjects of a daily theater that reveal the poetics of tragedy in their silence. Since 1975 Webb has participated in many exhibitions around the world.
