Match Point - P. Conti - G. Lombardini - GROUP SHOW IN GALLERY

PaciArte gallery gladly presents the double show “Match Point”, featuring works by Paolo Conti and Giovanni Lombardini.
Following this unusual journey between painting and sculpture we compare two artist possessing different techniques, but sharing a similar poetry.
If Paolo Conti exploits the “discarded pieces” from industrial processes, giving them a new existence, together with a meaning for it, the unusual materials treated by Giovanni Lombardini (colours and mordant) create shiny surfaces, which may remember photographic medias with their light reflections.
The common ground of these two different researches is the evolution.
In Conti’s works the latter is represented by the identity overthrow, in a research which reverses the normal objects purposes, transforming what would otherwise be considered a scrap in a part of the alphabet of his artistic narration.
In his compositions nothing is casual, everything is carefully planned in order to attain formal beauty and equilibrium.
For Lombardini the evolution is instead lying in the light, which is the centre of all his researches, using always new industrial materials and following a continuous colour experimentation.
His technique is quick and changeable, always aimed at the improvement, in a pictorial journey detaching from the usual ones. His paintings seem to absorb light, and, as a last touch, he covers the work with transparent varnish, rendering the surfaces even more glossy.
The comparison between these two artists offers to us an interesting starting point for a consideration on the different technical applications related to the exploitation of unusual materials.
